The Epic Hemp Rope Treatment Video

Recently I was gifted with some lovely sets of Twisted Monk’s Vegan Organic Hemp Rope and since have had a number of awesome experiences with them.\’a0 I love them so much that I was inspired to treat my own raw hemp rope and document the process.
\

\
I let a few of my rope mentors know about this (Madame and Mr. Madame Butterfly and Lew Rubens) all of them said, “It’s good that you’re going through the process once, then you’ll realize why people charge so much for it and you’ll have no problem paying them.”
\

\
They were right, it is a very laborious process and I don’t think it’s that much cheaper then just ordering it from the rope treatment professionals. I don’t regret doing it and think I might do it at least one more time. If you’re as obsessed about ropes as I am and can make some extra time, I’d recommend going through the process for yourself. If not, stick to Twisted Monk’s ropes, they’re awesome.

Mike- Thanks for your encouragement and posting your hemp rope treating method on the web!! Look forward to meeting you sometime.

That was definitely epic – and most interesting to watch, not least because while we both got the same result (lovely hemp rope ready to use), the order we went about preparing it was completely different!

Here’s how I did mine: singed off the fuzz; boiled overnight; rinsed out three or four times; stretched around chair legs to dry; oiled (using my hands, not a cloth) three times. Then whipped. End result = yum!

Your end result looked very yum as well :)

Curvaceous Dee, Ellie!- I’m so glad to find more people who have/are treating their hemp rope. I’m pretty sure I’m going to do another batch (probably bigger this time).

@FIVESTAR: Well, come down and visit me at Folsom! I’ll be at Julie’s Supper Club all day, on the back patio, or in front on the street somewhere close by.

I love that you have how you can treat your own rope. My first set of rope that I ever purchased was from Rawganique as well and I was going to treat it but Mr Mogul beat me to it :) I think this is a fabulous educational video on treating rope. I don’t think I’ve actually seen other rope treating videos. Now we just need a video on how to prepare and treat your own canes.

@madisonyoung So happy you liked the video. Maybe we should have a rope treatment workshop sometime. I don’t know much about canes, but would love to learn. Thanks for stopping by:)

Excellent Video Blog…. a friend of mine told me, and I consequently did… use a pressure cooker… to boil the rope…. instead of taking hours, and hours…. pressure cook it, dry it, cook it again, dry it, etc., etc…. it works GREAT!!!!
