Cover: Exerpt from Marry Poppins

I just decided to do this quick video which was originally going to be a Facebook video message but Facebook video SUX (or at least it was down when I tried to use it).

\

Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mary
\
Mary makes your heart so light
\
When the day is gray and ordinary
\
Mary makes the sun shine bright
\
Oh happiness is blooming all around her
\
The daffodils are smiling at the dove
\
When Mary holds your hand you feel so grand
\
Your heart starts beating like a big brass band
\
Oh it's a jolly holiday with Mary
\
No wonder that it's Mary that we love

“Dance Me to the End of Love” cover

Someone left a comment on YouTube asking if I’d cover “Dance Me to the End of Love” by Leonard Cohen.\’a0 Since I had never heard it before, I looked up a few versions and came up with this version so far.\’a0 I decided to change a few words and use Photo Booth for the first time to upload.
\

\
My computer fell asleep while recording and the video froze. I didn’t feel like recording it again, but now I’ll either reset my sleep preferences or record with my machine plugged in.
\

\
Thanks for joining me on my new experiments with Photo Booth!

“Sweet the Sting”-Tori Amos Cover

This is a video recording of an audio recording of the Tori Amos song “Sweet the Sting.” I’m kind of obsessed with other people’s YouTube cover song videos. I spend hours looking up covers of my favorite songs and artists. Of the many cover videos featuring Tori Amos’ songs, I couldn’t find “Sweet the Sting” (The Beekeeper ). So, I decided to make one.
\

\
It just turns out that October 23 is the first day of Scorpio so I’ll make this song not only a tribute to Tori Amos (She’s is my Jesus) but also as a happy birthday wish to all the Scorpios out there, I love you and I fear you.
\

\
Thanks to Miloh for his help. Audio file to come!

“You Fucked a Girl”, “I Kissed a girl” cover

Though I was out to myself long before, I didn’t experience my first girl kiss until I left my traditional Mexican Catholic hometown of McAllen, Tx. Leaving home for the first time, I didn’t exactly escape conservatism, just traded it in for something a little more Country. I somehow found myself at an “elite Southern institution” where the Greek system affected the academic schedule.

\
Never mind her name. She was an outgoing, quirky, theater type who lived a few doors down from me on the 4th floor of Renke Hall. I don’t remember how we became friends, but we would hang out in the dorms together and catch the occasional dining hall Sunday brunch. There seemed to be some kind of mutual curiosity between us, eventually leading to a hot make-out session in her room.
\

\
The kiss lasted though a good portion of her play list, including ‘California Dreaming’, and we came to a sudden pause. She made me promise not to tell anyone about our liaison right before explaining how she was only making out with me because she didn’t have a man.
\

\
Ouch!
\

\
I’ve learned from more than that occasion that desire does not define identity and identity has the power to stifle desire. Maybe this is why I’m irked by Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl”, in fact it really bothered me (It doesn’t help that she sings another song that begins with “I hope you hang yourself with your H&M scarf while jacking off listening to Mozart”.)
\

\
I’ve experienced sexual encounters with women that make me feel like their “experimental game”, right before they stop the situation to pick up the cell phone call from their boyfriends.
\

\
Ouch!
\

\
Maybe one day I’ll be able fetishize sleeping with self-identified straight girls and win enough toaster ovens to give them away as weekly contest prizes for my blog. Who knows! Anyway, I came up with my own version of Perry’s song in order to reclaim and come to peace with my first girl kiss and some of my frustrations with identity, the patriarchy and internalized homophobia.
\

\
Disclaimer: In the case I might be read as a labrys-waving-biphobic-dyke, I love women and I love to sleep with people who own and celebrate their sexuality, whatever their sexual identity.

This is the first time I’ve uploaded a video of me singing and playing the guitar online. Hopefully I’ll do more!

Walk in Death Valley

I spent the past weekend in Death Valley for Simona’s birthday party AKA. Smoldering Woman. I took a bunch of video and just a few photos. I had an amazing time, as expected. This video is from a solo walk that I took up the road by our campsite. The audio is an old file I stumbled upon last night of my first dabblings with Garage Band more than a few years back. Stay tuned for more Death Valley and footage of crazy peeps, cute kids and hot mommas.

Shawna Virago at Dolores Park Cafe

I met Shawna Virago two years ago while working crew for Freshmeat, an annual trans and queer cabaret directed by Sean Dorsey. Last year, at Freshmeat, Shawna performed a song that stayed in my head for a whole month, because I loved it.

This past Friday night, Shawna performed it again at Dolores Park Cafe with Storm Flores and it is captured on video for y’all to see!

Ladies Night Rap: Julie Fucking Potter and Caroline Smith

I went to Mecca’s Ladies night for the first time last week. Powerlesbians sounds like a fun role playing gayme, but from everything I heard about Ladies Night, it just wasn’t my cup of $12 cocktail. When I heard there was live music, I headed down there to meet up with a friend.

I was right about the crowd but Julie Fucking Potter and Caroline Smith helped make the place more enjoyable. Thanks ladies! Hope to see you perform again.

The Sixtits- Paris, France

I had the pleasure of meeting 4 of The Sixtits while in Paris. Two tits were out of town… but you can hear her vocal stylings on their myspace page.

Since she was out, the band let me improvize on the mic!! I even jumped around!! The band is hot, edgy and super fun! Hope they can come and play in San Francisco!
